Wind in the willows head

START AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST!!!!!!!!!
This is our group at the Sew What fashion show, all ready to go on stage. I think we all looked really good, all the heads and costumes turned out extremely well, this what a really valuable learning experience, as the deadline was set in stone, if we didn't complete the heads by the date of the show, we wouldn't be going out on stage. I really enjoyed this unit!

This is is my final head and costume, I got the costume at a local charity shop, a tweed blazer, check scarf and trousers. i also made a small handkerchief to put in his pocket and a fabric button hole flower.

I lastly added yellow paint to highlight the bumps on the toads skin.

I added glitter so it would sparkle on the stage lights.
I finished painting the eyes, and decided I still wasn't happy with the complextion of the Toads skin, so I rolled pieces of tissue paper up and stuck them around the mouth and eyes, toads actually have these bumps on there skin.

I then painted the eyes, i looked into what toads eyes really look like, I wanted to make them look as close as possible, detailed yet bold enough of the people in the audience of the show could still see the eyes from far back.
I put on a first layer of paint, stippling with darker and lighter shades of green, to give the complextion of a real toad.

Once it had fully dried i tried it on my model, to see if anything needed re-adjusting.

It began to sink from the weight of the wet newspaper, so I held the mouth open using a cardboard tube
I then paper mached all over the head
I started off with a cardboard box, and built on top of it with newspaper and held it down with masking tape and gum strip.
This was my original head, it was lopsided, full of holes and had no structural support, so I started from scratch
